6 High Protein Breakfast Recipes for Pakistani Mornings
6 High Protein Breakfast Recipes for Pakistani Mornings
Skip the paratha soaked in oil or just a cup of chai and get proper food into your morning. These six high protein breakfast recipes use desi ingredients you already have at home, like eggs, chana, dahi, paneer and oats.
Every recipe below gives approximate calories and protein grams per serving. The numbers are estimates, not lab results. They change with brand, portion size and how much oil you use.
Why protein at breakfast helps appetite control
Protein takes longer to digest than plain carbs. That is why anda and dahi keep you full longer than a slice of white bread with jam.
Eating more protein in the morning may help manage cravings later in the day. Many people say they stop reaching for biscuits and samosas at 11 am once their breakfast has real protein in it. If that sounds like you, our protein guide explains the basics in simple words.
Protein also supports muscle maintenance, which matters if you are eating in a calorie deficit. This does not mean protein alone will change your body. No breakfast replaces a balanced daily routine with regular activity.
Aim for roughly 20 to 30 grams of protein at breakfast. All six recipes below are built around that range.
6 high protein breakfast recipes with numbers
1. Anda bhurji with roti
This is the fastest desi high protein breakfast on the list. Use two eggs, one small whole wheat roti and a spoon of oil.
You need: 2 eggs, 1 small onion, 1 tomato, 1 green chilli, 1 tsp oil, salt, haldi, 1 small roti.
Method: Heat 1 tsp oil in a non-stick pan. Soften the onion for 2 minutes, add tomato and green chilli, then the beaten eggs. Scramble on medium heat until just set. Serve with 1 small roti.
Tip: Do not pour oil into the pan like it is a curry. One teaspoon is enough. This single habit changes the numbers a lot.
2. Greek yogurt and nuts bowl
Greek yogurt is thicker and higher in protein than regular dahi. It is now available in most large stores in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, often between Rs 400 and Rs 700 per tub.
You need: 200 g Greek yogurt or hung dahi, 1 tbsp almonds, 1 tbsp walnuts, a few slices of apple or half a banana, a pinch of cinnamon.
Method: Put the yogurt in a bowl. Add nuts and fruit on top. Eat as it is.
Tip: Use unsalted nuts. Salted mixes add sodium and make you thirsty for more chai.
3. Chana chaat with egg
This one tastes like a street snack but behaves like a real meal. Boil a batch of chana and keep it in the fridge for two days.
You need: 1 cup boiled chickpeas, 1 boiled egg, half onion, 1 tomato, lemon juice, chaat masala, 1 tsp oil or none.
Method: Mix chana, chopped onion and tomato. Squeeze lemon, add chaat masala. Top with the sliced boiled egg. Eat it as a bowl, not with fried papri.
Tip: Skip the sev and papri. They turn a light bowl into a fried one.
4. Oats and milk with peanut butter
This is the best option for people who wake up late and have five minutes. Use rolled oats or plain oats, not the sweet flavoured sachets.
You need: 40 g plain oats, 200 ml milk, 1 tbsp unsweetened peanut butter, a pinch of cinnamon.
Method: Cook oats in milk on low heat for 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in the peanut butter off the heat. Add cinnamon.
Tip: Flavoured oat packets are often high in sugar. Plain oats with peanut butter taste better and hold you longer.
5. Paneer paratha light version
A normal restaurant paneer paratha is cooked in a lot of oil or ghee. The home version is lighter and still good.
You need: 50 g paneer, 1 small whole wheat roti or paratha, half onion, green chilli, coriander, 1 tsp oil.
Method: Grate the paneer and mix with onion, chilli, coriander and salt. Roll the filling into the dough and cook the paratha on a tawa with 1 tsp oil, not a ladle full. Serve with a small bowl of plain dahi.
Tip: Two stuffed parathas double the calories. One is a serving.
6. Egg and vegetable omelette
This is the cleanest recipe if you are cutting back on oil and bread.
You need: 2 eggs, half onion, half tomato, a handful of spinach or capsicum, 1 tsp oil, salt and pepper.
Method: Whisk the eggs with the chopped vegetables. Cook on medium heat in a non-stick pan with 1 tsp oil. Fold and serve.
Tip: Add one small roti on the side if you are hungry, or skip it for a lighter plate.

Breakfast mistakes that stall weight loss
Most people do not go wrong at dinner. They go wrong at breakfast, quietly, every day.
- Drinking your calories. Sweet chai, packaged juice and cafe lattes add up fast. Two cups of milk tea with sugar can add as much as a whole roti to your day.
- Using too much oil. A recipe that should be 330 calories becomes 500 with two extra spoons of oil. Measure it.
- Skipping breakfast and overeating later. If you do not eat till 2 pm, you often make up for it with heavy lunch and heavy dinner. Our breakfast guide covers simple ways to avoid this.
- Only eating fruit. Fruit is good, but fruit alone is low in protein and you will be hungry again by mid morning.
- Adding sugar to healthy bowls. Oats, dahi and smoothies become high sugar meals with honey, jam or added sugar on top. For lighter drinks, see our guide to smoothies and juices.
- No plan at all. When nothing is ready, you reach for whatever is easy. A simple meal prep routine on a Sunday fixes this.
A note on supplements and safety
Some readers ask if a supplement can help alongside these recipes. A herbal formula like Active Detox supports digestion, metabolism and healthy daily energy levels, and may help manage cravings, as part of a balanced daily routine. It is made in Pakistan and you can see the full range in all products.
No supplement replaces a calorie-controlled diet and regular activity. Results vary from person to person, and no specific amount of weight loss can be promised.
Because the formula contains Guarana and Green Coffee, it is not for anyone under 18, and not for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Anyone on prescription medicine or managing a health condition should talk to a doctor first. If you feel palpitations, sleeplessness or stomach upset, stop taking it and see a doctor.
Only buy from sellers you can verify. Unregulated slimming pills sold on social media in Pakistan have been found to contain undeclared drugs, so avoid them and read our DRAP safety guide before ordering anything.
